Our Creative Teams

We think Fishman Marketing’s creative teams are the most effective in the legal and advertising industries.  This belief is thoroughly supported by both international awards and dramatic client growth.  They possess the rare ability to turn a unique and differentiated strategy into simple, compelling visuals that grab your attention and tell a firm’s story with just a glance.

Their remarkable expertise is among our clients’ biggest strategic advantages, and we know our competitors would love to discover their secret identities.  As such we guard them just as closely as The Colonel’s Seven Herbs and Spices. They often work in two-person copywriter/designer teams, below.

ERIC - Creative Specialist / Copywriter

Eric is a self-proclaimed "advertising brat." Having grown up in a family of advertising executives and having written his first published ad for his uncle's agency at age nine, he has spent a lifetime (or at least half a lifetime) creating award-winning campaigns.

Eric firmly believes that sharp, engaging writing will not only turn a consumer's head, but will get them to open their wallets. He's seen it work, too, at many agencies throughout Chicago, including Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather, and Young & Rubicam, where he brought his talents to accounts both big and small, such as Miller Beer, The Leinenkugel Brewing Company, Sears, Proctor & Gamble, Heinz, Advocate Health Care and Norwegian Cruise Lines.  Eric's work has been recognized by Communication Arts magazine and The One Show, and he has won numerous industry awards, including Clios, Addys, Tellys and Graphis honors. Working closely with Tony and our integrated creative team, Eric has collaborated on more than 50 Fishman Marketing campaigns since 1998.

TONY - Art Director

Like most great art director/designers, Tony sees the world a little differently. With one eye concentrated on the art and technique of design and two eyes focused on his client's business (you need three eyes to be a successful art director these days), Tony strives to create advertising that's not only compelling, but sells.

And he's had great success along the way, with stops at FCB and Taitham/Euro RSCG, where he worked on such high profile accounts as Coca-Cola, Nestea, and Kraft. He's worked for famed Chicago adman Tom Reilly, where he created and designed work for the Chicago White Sox, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Follett. And most recently he has applied his skills for a high-powered boutique, where he oversaw all of the agency's creative executions.  Tony has been honored with a wide range of advertising and design awards, including The One Show, Graphis, Addys, MM&M Awards and others too numerous to list here, in addition to two LMA Best of Show honors.

BOB - Art Director / Creative Director

Bob has enjoyed an award-winning journey through Chicago's top advertising agencies. A graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design, Bob landed his first Art Director's job at Foote Cone & Belding where he worked on the Pizza Hut, First Chicago Bank, and Sears accounts.  From FCB, Bob moved to one of Chicago's hottest small shops, Dawson, Johns and Black, where he worked on accounts such as Corona Beer, Audi, Car X, and Rusty Jones. The Corona campaign he helped create is still running today.  Bob then returned to FCB.  Making the most of his beer experience, he worked on the Coors, Coors Light, and Killian's brands.

After FCB, Bob signed on at Campbell Mithun, Chicago as an Associate Creative Director. His accounts there included Midway Airlines, 3M, and Texaco.  Bob's next stop was DDB, Chicago where he was Creative Director on FTD Florists, State Farm Insurance, General Mills, Louis Kemp Seafood, and Land's End.  Bob later joined JWT Chicago as Creative Director/Senior Partner. His account responsibilities included a variety of Kraft brands as well as Stouffer's frozen entrees.

Steve - Copywriter

Graduating from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with degrees in English and Psychology, Steve got his first job in advertising as a junior copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago. After six years there, working on accounts such as Sears, Cessna Business Jets, the Chicago Tribune, and Ameritech Mobile, Steve moved down Michigan Avenue to Leo Burnett.  During his 9-year stint there, Steve worked his way up the ranks becoming an Associate Creative Director. His clients included Phillip Morris, Kellogg's, Proctor & Gamble, and the Crash Test Dummies Safety Belt campaign.

From Leo Burnett, Steve's next stop was DDB Chicago where he handled creative duties for clients such as General Mills, State Farm Insurance, and Louis Kemp seafood.  Steve was most recently Creative Director/Senior Partner at JWT Chicago. His accounts included various Kraft brands, Macy's, Nabisco, Stouffers frozen foods, and HSBC bank.  Partnered with Bob, Steve has developed sophisticated and award-winning campaigns for dozens of Fishman Marketing firms.

David - Creative Director

Executive Creative Director David has authored several famous advertising campaigns, including seven Super Bowl commercials since 2005.  A recent campaign for Bud Light won the USA Today's Super Bowl poll.  Clients include: Bud Light, Dell, Sears, Coca-Cola, Minute Maid, Dewars' Scotch, True Value Hardware, U.S. Attorney's Office, Jim Beam Brands, Kellogg's, and Nintendo, as well as dozens of law firms worldwide.

David is a conceptual but pragmatic Creative Director - he strongly believes in the power of creativity as an effective (and often underutilized) tool for building leadership brands and growing business.

His mantra for developing compelling advertising is this: "Remember, people love to buy. But they hate to be sold." Awards include: Communication Arts, London International, Lurzer's Archive, Clio, Cannes, Ad Age's Best Spot of the Year, Adweek's Best Spots of the Month and Best Spots of the Year, Local, Regional and National Addys, The New York Festival, and over a dozen LMA Your Honor Awards, including two Best of Show honors.  David graduated with a M.S. in Advertising from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in 1988.
